The Gordian Knot (Class-W Singularity) is a weaponized black hole containment unit. It is named after the mythological knot that was solved by cutting it with a sword, referencing the weapon's detonation mechanism.

Unlike civilian Knots which prioritize stability, Gordian Knots are designed to be "untied" (destabilized) on impact.

Operation[]

  • The Knot is fired via railgun or warp-missile toward an enemy fleet or planet.
  • Upon proximity, the magnetic containment lattice is intentionally severed.
  • The sudden release of the micro-singularity creates a tidal shear force of 1012 Gs.
  • Without the feed, the black hole evaporates instantly. The resulting explosion combines a gravitational shockwave with a burst of gamma radiation intense enough to sterilize a continent.

These are generally banned by the civilizations due to the risk of "missed shots" drifting through space and acting as invisible gravitational mines.
