Humans are the sapient species of the planet Earth in the Andromeda Universe.
Humanity had been technologically advancing for 3 millennia before they were integrated into the Systems Commonwealth, a democratic federation of over a million planets, drifts, space stations, orbital habitats, and even entire solar systems which was created from the Vedran Empire.
They did not have faster than light travel until they began to make breakthroughs into quantum string theory that would have allowed them to experiment with Slipstream with potentially disastrous consequences until the Commonwealth first made contact via the Perseids. Humanity's power and influence grew and they eventually became second only to the Vedrans. They famously used the Andromeda in their fight against the Magog.
Humans are divided into a few sub-species such as the Castalians, Inari, Hajira and the Nietzscheans. With the ultimate fall of the Commonwealth, humanity became scattered across the known worlds and many were enslaved by the Nietzscheans.
Most Nietzscheans view humans as being inferior and useful only as slaves. The Than-Thre-Kull pity humans, believing that humans' small family groups are one of the sources of human suffering.
