A Singularity Knot is a high-output power source that uses the quantum decay of a gravitational singularity (usually from a black hole) to generate energy or for other purposes.
The "Knot" refers to the complex, twisted geometry of the magnetic containment fields and energy collectors that surround the singularity.
When the Knot is "closed" or "tied," the distortion field works to redirect the flow of radiation back into the hole, thus maintaining its mass and preventing it from evaporating completely. When the Knot is "opened," the space-time metric is modulated to segregate antimatter from particles and channel these away from the Knot to receiver/storage devices. Since this results in a decrease in the mass of the black hole, a constant stream of "feeder" particles is required to prevent the Knot from evaporating.
According to a Galactic Consensus Classification System, these are the classes that include Singularity Knots.
| Class | Meaning | Description | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|
| Class-A | Alpha / Primary | Baseline, general-purpose energy generators, designed purely for the stable conversion of mass into Hawking Radiation for electricity or heat. They are the "diesel engines" of the galaxy—reliable, standard, and used for static power. | Hawking's Knot |
| Class-B | Booster / Propulsion | Optimized for thrust. They sacrifice energy collection efficiency in favor of maximizing angular momentum transfer and ergosphere reflection (the Halo Drive effect). They are engine components, not batteries. | |
| Class-C | Civil / Habitation | Planetary engineering and megastructure assembly. | |
| Class-I | Information / Computational | Engineered for entropy/bit density. These singularities are often "cold" (low radiation output) but have highly complex, fractalized event horizons. They are used as hard drives and supercomputers (using the M-E-I Equivalence). | |
| Class-M | Mining | Designed for mining of raw material, waste disposal, and demolition. | |
| Class-S | Shield / Sentinel | Designed to protect planets, starships, and habitats from directed energy weapons and cosmic hazards. | |
| Class-T | Transport / Tunnel / Transit | Fixed infrastructure that anchors a wormhole in place. | |
| Class-W | Weapon / Destructive | Designed with "fail-deadly" architectures. Unlike other classes which have safety dumps to prevent explosions, these Knots are designed to maximize the lethality of their collapse. They function as gravitational warheads. | |
| Class-X | Exotic / Experimental | Structures that violate standard topological safety limits or use non-baryonic physics (like cosmic strings or negative mass). These devices often manipulate spacetime geometry itself (time travel, wormholes) rather than just energy or matter. |
