Ok, I just watched a video from the YouTube channel Unveiled https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tku2lTWNMMU&list=WL&index=6&pp=gAQBiAQB that was about this topic. Of course my science-fictiony mind started to come up with more theories and expand on the ones in this video so here we go:

Humanity very well could be the remnants of an alien civilization. Just before the dinosaurs were wiped out we saw a spike in global temperatures, just like we’re seeing today with human-caused climate change. Could this be the cause of an intelligent species? I think it is unlikely the dinosaurs had anything to do with it; I think they were merely bystanders if intelligent life is the case, what do you think? Here are my thoughts:

I think that if intelligent life was the case then it either was like us and came to be for a little bit but then went extinct or it was a near Type III civilization that colonized earth for a little bit but then left, we could be the remnants of that species (I think it would most likely be the second option because how would a Type 0 civilization erase all evidence of itself for we still have fossils from dinosaurs even farther back than this). Let me expand on the whole “remnants of this species” thing: basically this alien life knew for some reason it would die out soon so maybe they tried to colonize as many planets as possible and try to seed more intelligent life to go on once they passed.

But then there is the possibility that they were, in fact, not a Type III and merely a Type I or Type II that sent generation ships to possible habitable worlds with the goal of seeding life, or maybe it was von Neumann Probes, we don’t know. This is kinda creepy because this could mean there are still ships out there that are heading to different planets. Anyway, what do you think? Let me know in the comments below!
